1. We are one of the oldest solar installers in the country.
2021 is our 33rd year in business (we’ve been around since 1988!) This makes us one of the oldest solar installers in the country. In fact, we installed the first pure grid-tied system in upstate New York. We have been installing solar for years and will continue to do it for many, many more!
2. We started out doing aerospace consulting work.
It’s true – ETM actually started out doing aerospace consulting work (ETM is short for Extraterrestrial Materials). We led the design work for the Lunar Prospector, a small robotic spacecraft that orbited the Moon in 98-99 looking for water at the lunar poles. We also did work on space solar power for the Space Studies Institute in Princeton and NASA. In 1993 we decided to bring the resources of space to Earth more directly and go into the “terrestrial” solar energy business (solar energy being a valuable and easily accessible resource).
3. Our business itself is solar powered!
ETM has solar on our own roof which generates electricity for our office! Our email and website domains also use a solar-powered server. We use what we sell – talk about a win-win!
