Dr. Gay Canough
Founder & CEO
Dr. Canough obtained her B.S. in physics from Purdue University in 1980 and her Ph.D. in Particle Physics from the University of Notre Dame in 1987. She has carried out studies on solar under NASA and the Space Studies Institute at Princeton, and directed design projects at the International Space University. Dr. Canough also completed several experiments in particle physics at Fermilab and CERN. She has conducted the PV Installers Course over 130 times, is Certified Master Trainer with the Institute for Sustainable Power, and a Certified PV Installer with the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners. She also taught engineering physics, electronics, and particle physics at Binghamton University from 1990-1995.
Roger became a full-time installer under the direction of Francine V. Notte in 2001-2003. Then, from November 2003-2008, he became a full-time Crew Chief and supervised 2 to 4 crew members. In 2008 he was promoted to General Manager of Installations. In 2013, he was promoted to vice president. He now oversees all day to day operations. Roger has input on design and does all phases of DC electrical installation. If a licensed electrician is not required, Roger does the AC portion of installation as well. Roger is in charge of organizing and planning work crews. His accreditations include NABCEP certification, NYSERDA (eligible to install PV systems), OSHA 20-hour certified classroom training in safety, and SMA certification.
Wendy earned her Master’s Degree from Seton Hill University. She is currently the Sales Manager and has been since November 2007. Wendy came to ETM with a strong background in sales, and since being with ETM Wendy has sold over $12,000,000 in solar installations.
Bob has been with ETM for 2 years, and has been in the solar industry for 11 years. In his free time, Bob likes to golf, see his grandkids, and hunt.
Solar Energy Consultant
Michael comes to ETM with 5 years of experience as a solar project coordinator for Taitem Engineering in Ithaca. Prior to that, Michael completed a solar photovoltaic system design class at a local community college with Melissa Kemp as the instructor. He is a musician, photographer and publicist for the music and arts community in Ithaca and teaches and plays music around central New York. He has a BS in Plant Biology from Cornell University where he also took elective classes in business and engineering. Michael and his family were founders and previous owners of Ludgate Farms which they sold in 2010.
Alex Lehman is the office manager at ETM Solar Works. He has been part of the company on and off since 2013 building a website, doing IT related work and even working on job sites as part of the install crew. Alex grew up around solar power, inverters and battery banks so his knowledge comes from experience. Currently his main focus is streamlining the paperwork process for installing residential and commercial solar in New York and Pennsylvania so no one has to wait to go solar!
Winter Clark graduated from Binghamton University in 2018 with two majors, philosophy and political sociology (a self-designed major that focuses on interdisciplinary action-based research). After confirming that there were no jobs to be had in philosophy, Winter did a 180, choosing to channel their communication skills through marketing. Winter has a passion for sustainability, and is thrilled to be working in the solar industry. In their free time, Winter enjoys playing the piano and scheming to travel as much as possible.
Manager of Installations
